This energy harvesting system generates short, powerful voltage pulses sufficient to power the rotation-counting electronic circuit, even when the speed of rotation is very low. Join our colleague Toby Best for his tutorial Wiegand wires, Wiegand effect & Wiegand sensors on Monday, May 3rd 2021, 10:00 - 11:30 at the joint Sensor and Measurement Science International Conference .
The tutorial will introduce what the Wiegand wire is, how it was invented, what kind of characteristics it has, and the basic principles related to it that are useful for industrial & scientific applications. It will also trace the journey from invention, through implementations and applications, to its recent resurgence as a sensing technology.The tutorial will serve as a way for other system developers, PHD students, industry professionals to get to know the Wiegand effect inside out and to get a glimpse of the potential of the Wiegand wire-based technologies and how it can be used for energy harvesting, pulse generation and measurement operations without the need for a battery.
