New facility will Increase Manufacturing Capacity for High-volume Products

The FRABA Group, an international manufacturer of sensors for industrial motion control applications, has officially opened its new manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia. The opening ceremony took place on October 4, 2022, with the Honourable Tuan Lee Ting Han, Chairman of the State's Investment, Trade and Consumer Affairs Committee as guest of honour.

The new 1,700 sqm factory has started operations with a staff of 45 and is slated to employ up to 120 people by the end of 2023. Production processes will be based on Industry 4.0 principles, making use of FRABA’s advanced data-centered manufacturing technologies. This new facility will operate in parallel with FRABA’s existing factory in Slubice, Poland, increasing the company’s production capacity for high-volume products and helping the company meet growing demand. Further investments in manufacturing facilities in Malaysia are planned for the future.

The product mix at the Johor factory will include kit encoder assemblies and Wiegand sensors. Kit encoders are simplified versions of FRABA’s POSITAL brand of self-contained rotary encoders, designed for electrical motors or drives, while Wiegand sensors are unique devices used in a variety of measuring systems, including fluid meters and POSITAL’s popular line of battery-free multiturn magnetic encoders.

The FRABA Group, which includes the POSITAL (position and motion sensors) and UBITO (Wiegand technology) business units, has seen strong sales growth in recent years, especially in Asian markets. Christian Lesser, FRABA’s CEO comments: “With a well-established electronics manufacturing industry, proven infrastructure and logistics, Johor is an ideal location for our first production facility outside of Europe. Our new Malaysian facility will help us serve our customers quickly and efficiently and supports our strategy of developing FRABA as a truly international enterprise.”
