Industrial Robots Applications

Industrial Robots

An industrial robot is an electromechanical system that is being widely used in modern manufacturing for increasing the speed and precision of working processes as well as reducing labor costs and human error. The most commonly used industrial robots are cartesian coordinate robots, articulated arm robots, SCARA robots, delta robots, cylindrical robots and gantry robots. There are many different types of robots according to the category of robotic arms (or manipulators). The robotic arm typically being made of steel or cast iron is built from the base up, ending with wrist and end effector that is designed to perform the arm’s given tasks. The robotic controller commands the motors that are attached each joint to move the arm in a plane or a space (depending on the number of joints) for the specific tasks. Joints as the main drive part of an industrial robot allows it can work in numerous degrees of freedom accordingly. With the different end effectors (or end-of-arm tooling) equipped, an industrial robot can be programmed to work in specific tasks of different applications. Encoders as one of the most critical parts of the feedback system for these joints of industrial robots determine the efficiency of work and safety.

POSITAL's KIT encoder family is the ideal solution for the feedback system of industrial robots for most applications. Its unique Multiturn technology with no battery as well as compact and robust design empowers nowadays industrial robots. They can be installed on shafted electrical motors or directly into the arm of the robot. For this case hollow shaft kit encoder versions are available providing sufficient space to integrate cables or tubes for compressed air to the arm of the robot.
