Cranes and other loading equipments are required to operate safely and precisely. Concrete Pumps
Concrete pumps have a large number of joints and axis of rotation. They are supposed to have large spans for hard to reach places and covering a large area at once at a construction site. It is not uncommon to have encoders or similar devices mounted around the axis of rotation. The absolute encoders from POSITAL are being used directly on the rotational joint due to the heavy duty housings made specially for these applications. The encoders helps in providing active damping of the multiple arms, which otherwise was done by a few workers tugging on to the arms to make sure the pump exit is at the right place.
Drilling
Drill Rigs, Bucket Wheel Excavators and Mobile Hammering machines have multiple axis and joints between their arms. Precise positioning information between the arms is necessary in order to identify the exact position of the tip of the arm and have a controlled movement of the arm, in an application where safety is the prime concern.
